CPG Lights the Night

For the 8th consecutive year, Capitol Petroleum Group took part in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual charity walk, the Light the Night fundraiser. The Light the Night walk took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 26th. It was a lovely evening and it was great to see so many CPG employees and their family and friends participate in the walk. This year, CPG manged to raise $5,655.00 with a $5,000 sponsorship to total to $10,655.00. The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services for those stricken by the disease. In 2018, The LLS helped advance 19 of 21 approved blood cancer therapies. Light The Night raises critical funds to support these advances and to provide patients with necessary support services. Donations are open through the end of the year (December 31st, 2019) and if you are interested in donating to the CPG team, please go our page and donate! Capitol Petroleum Group Sponsors NICU Training at Howard University Hospital

This fall, after being a long-time fundraiser and walk team organizer at the annual March for Babies walk, Capitol Petroleum Group, expanded their involvement in a new way to support other March of Dimes's initiatives by sponsoring a NICU Training Day. CPG selected Howard University Hospital as it's hospital of choice for this training opportunity. In collaboration with the March of Dimes, we hosted this event on October 25th for hospital staff and current medical school students. The event was held in the Tower Auditorium and had nearly forty attendees, with training led by an experienced NICU educator and nurse. Following the training, CPG received a brief tour of the NICU floor at Howard University Hospital and met the wonderful and incredibly hardworking staff of doctors, nurses, and administrators. It was a rewarding experience to see how March of Dimes supports hospitals in the area and the important life-saving work Howard University's NICU medical team does with babies and their families. To learn how you can support, please visit their websites here:  March of Dimes and Howard University Hospital.
