2023 Bright Stars Event

   

In February, the Easterseals organization held its' annual Bright Stars Night at the Circus event at Capitol One Area in Tyson's Corner. The event featured the Omnium Circus group and was a fun family-friendly show. Easterseals provides services, education, outreach, and advocacy for people with disabilities. Annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Holiday Event!

 

   

The Salvation Army held it's annual Angel Tree Holiday Event in December 2022. With the support of various community members and business, the organization received numerous donations and with the help of volunteers, they packed and delivered gifts to many families in the DC Metropolitan area. The holidays can be a challenging time for many individuals and The Salvation Army does a heartfelt job at ensuring many families and especially children receive care and support. CPG nominates Thrive DC for the Shell Motiva/GWHCF Community Grant

 

   

Starting in 2019, through Shell Motiva's Greater Houston Community Foundation charity initiative, Capitol Petroleum Group has nominated Thrive DC for a grant donation from Shell Motiva. Again this year, Shell Motiva/GWHCF and CPG came together to match and donate to the charity's community efforts. Thrive DC offers various services to support the homeless community in the DC area and especially in offering substance abuse counseling. Grand Opening Event at 2230 NY Ave

 

                

In partnership with WPGC 95.5, Shack N'd Pack, and Shell Motiva, a fun customer appreciation event was held at 2230 New York Avenue in Washington, D.C. on October 22nd, 2022. With new management and store renovations, the station welcomed community members on a sunny Fall day. The first ninety-five customers were greeted with gas cards, and as customers continued to flow, they received Shell-branded giveaways, Dave & Buster tickets, refreshments and snacks.

             

 

Grand Opening Event at 2200 P Street

 

     

Around the corner from Rock Creek parkway, nestled between the West End and Dupont Circle neighborhoods, a new Shell station has opened at 2200 P Street NW in Washington, D.C. On a hot summer day at the end of July, in partnership with WPGC 95.5 and Shack N'd Pack, a grand opening event was held in celebration of the new location. The first ninety-five customers were greeted with gas cards and Shell branded and WPGC giveaways. There were ice-cold freshments and ice cream to help keep customers cool and make the event a fun community event! 

Customer Appreciation Event at 3101 Rhode Island Ave

    

        

On a bright sunny Saturday in late June, a grand opening event was held at the Shell Motiva station at 3101 Rhode Island Ave NE in Washington, DC. In partnership with top radio station WPGC 95.5 and legendary radio personality Shack N'd Pack, customers were greeted with gas card giveaways, Shell branded items, free refreshments, and assorted ice cream. It was a busy early afternoon with cars lined up and the neighborhood happy to meet the station staff and see the location open again.

Easterseals's Annual Bright Stars Night Event makes a bold return in 2022

 

 

 

 

 

Easterseals hosted their annual Bright Stars Night event with a private evening performance of "Omnium: A Bold New Circus's ImPossible Show". The event was held at Capital One Hall in Tysons Corner, VA on Saturday , February 26th. This all-ages event was held to bring together families, community leaders, and Eastersseals supporters. The funds raised from this event help enable Easterseals to continue providing opportunities and services for families and individuals with disabilities and military backgrounds. Shell Motiva's The Giving Pump Program

   

Shell Motiva launched a nationwide campaign called, The Giving Pump. It is a program at stations to support children’s charities in local communities for sixty-days this summer. At nearly 3,000 stations across the country, specialized pumps highlighted a charity of choice. Some of the charities selected were Covenant House-Greater Washington, Dreams for Kids DC, P.U.S.O. Foundation, Autism FYI, and DC Dreamcenter. After the sixty-day campaign, donations will be made to the designated charities at each participating location. Easterseals Annual Bright Stars event goes virtual!

Easterseals held it's annual Bright Stars event virtually this year from February 16th until March 25th. The event was transformed into a unique virtual event from previous years, allowing families and supporters to participate safely from their homes. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening, there were guest readers, from celebrities to athletes, reading children's stories. CPG has been a supporter for several years and happy to see the organization push forward this year with their mission to raise funds for various community programs such as adult day servies, child development centers, disability and veteran staffing network, miltary family clinic, and more. Holiday Cheer & Hope with The Women's Wing Organization

Based in the DC metropolitan area, the Women's Wing Organization provides comprehensive life skills training, rehabilitation, mentoring, and restorative services to current and formerly incarcerated persons and their families. For several years, Capitol Petroleum Group has been a proud supporter of the Women's Wing Annual Holiday Party. In 2020, the organization pushed forward to hold their annual event in December with the support of various local businesses and organizations so they could provide gifts for kids under the age of twelve, PPE supplies such as masks and hand sanitizer, and sanitary pads for girls. The event included a virtual party with Santa and performers and two gift distrbution locations for families to pick up gifts and care packages. Capitol Petroleum Group was happy to support the organization in wrapping up a tough year with holiday cheer and hope to local families and communities. Pushing Forward in 2020 - The Salvation Army's Angel Tree Program

                                            

               

The Angel Tree program is a holiday assistance program created and organized by The Salvation Army. The seasonal program operates in various areas of the country and Capitol Petroleum Group has been a proud supporter of the National Capital Area chapter, based in the District of Columbia. With 2020 being a challenging year for many communities, the Salvation Army was able to still provide a safe and positive initiative by delivering holiday gifts to many families in the DC Metro area. Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Virtual Light The Night Walk

 

The 2020 LLS Light The Night Walk was held virtually on Friday October 23rd at 7pm. Sponsors and walk teams had a chance to participate online with welcome activities, guest speakers, fun interactive social media tools, and an opportunity "walk" in their respective neighborhoods. CPG is proud and happy to support LLS's efforts this year as they pushed forward to create a new and safe way to champion for their cause. The Light the Night walk event raised over $750,000. Covenant House DC Hosts Virtual Charity Event

On Thursday, June 18, 2020 the Covenant House of Greater Washington hosted their 25th Anniversary via Zoom. For over 25 years, the Covenant House has lead the DC area as a non-profit; using the money they are able to raise, the Covenant House helps to transform the lives of underpriviledged youth between the ages of 18-24. Capitol Petroleum Group is always looking for ways to give back to the community and are excited to be annual sponsors to the organization-- this year, CPG is thrilled to be a Silver Sponsor for the organization. This year's event was held on Zoom and featured many familiar faces to the DC region, including former Mayor Vincent Gray, current Mayor Muriel Bowser, Joe Clair from WPGC 95.5, and many members of the community who have been positively impacted by the Covenant House. There was even a few musical arrangements made by Gospel vocalist Vanessa Williams to keep the mood light. The money that CHGW raises is able to help provide housing, education, mental health support, and workforce readiness to youth experiencing homelessness and exploitation. The First American Heart Association Zoom Golf Invitational

As a result of COVID-19, the American Heart Association took their popular annual golf tournament to a virtual course. CPG was proud to sponsor this event for the 6th year in a row. Traditionally, some of our CPG golf enthusiasts set out to tee of in the name of charity. This year, as we are all practicing social distancing, outdoor golf is inacessable. However, the AHA used this golf time to educate on how Coronavirus affects the heart and those with heart issues. There were a number of doctors from various hospitals across the United States who shared their stories as well as helpful tips with us. March for Babies 2020

During these unprecedented times the fight for healthy babies is more important than ever.   Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this year’s March for Babies events have moved online.   On Friday, March 1st a local rally was held virtually by the Washington DC March of Dimes team in place of the normal event at Nationals Park.  Emcees Jonathan and Hannah Allen provided updates on all of the great work the March of Dimes team is doing in response to COVID-19.   Participants were encouraged to share “Tik-Toks” and their own personal walking journeys with the hashtag #MarchforBabies.   If you are interested in donating to the March for Babies click here

CPG Lights the Night: Awards Edition

According to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's website, compared to other blood cancer nonprofits, LLS is the largest funder of cutting-edge research to advance the cure. A large part of these contributions come from members of the community. To show appreciation, the LLS foundation had a soiree for the various businesses, families, and survivors in the DMV community. Fox 5 DC's Shirin Rajaee hosted a lovely night filled with heartwarming stories and awards for the teams who went above and beyond. To learn more about the LLS mission, click here! Capitol Petroleum Group and Shell-Motiva partner again for a good cause

 

For the second year in a row, Capitol Petroleum Group has partnered with Shell- Motiva to make a contribution to the hard working people at Thrive DC.  “Thrive DC has been working since 1979 to prevent and end homelessness in Washington, DC by providing people with a wide range of services to help stabilize their lives”.  Programs include:  Therapy, Victim Services, Substance Abuse Program, Employment Program, and more.   If you are interested in making a contribution to Thrive DC, please click the link to make a donation https://www.thrivedc.org/donatenow/.

CPG Lights the Night

For the 8th consecutive year, Capitol Petroleum Group took part in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's annual charity walk, the Light the Night fundraiser. The Light the Night walk took place on the National Mall in Washington, DC on Saturday, October 26th. It was a lovely evening and it was great to see so many CPG employees and their family and friends participate in the walk. This year, CPG manged to raise $5,655.00 with a $5,000 sponsorship to total to $10,655.00. The LLS mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services for those stricken by the disease. In 2018, The LLS helped advance 19 of 21 approved blood cancer therapies. Light The Night raises critical funds to support these advances and to provide patients with necessary support services. Capitol Petroleum Group Sponsors NICU Training at Howard University Hospital

 

       

 

This fall, after being a long-time fundraiser and walk team organizer at the annual March for Babies walk, Capitol Petroleum Group, expanded their involvement in a new way to support other March of Dimes's initiatives by sponsoring a NICU Training Day. CPG selected Howard University Hospital as it's hospital of choice for this training opportunity. In collaboration with the March of Dimes, we hosted this event on October 25th for hospital staff and current medical school students. The event was held in the Tower Auditorium and had nearly forty attendees, with training led by an experienced NICU educator and nurse. Following the training, CPG received a brief tour of the NICU floor at Howard University Hospital and met the wonderful and incredibly hardworking staff of doctors, nurses, and administrators. It was a rewarding experience to see how March of Dimes supports hospitals in the area and the important life-saving work Howard University's NICU medical team does with babies and their families. Customer Appreciation Day

On October 12, 2019 Capitol Petroleum Group and local radio personality Shack 'Nd Pack teamed up for a Customer Appreciation Day at the Shell gas station located at 3701 12th St NE Washington, DC. Gas cards were available to the first 100 customers that came by. There was also music, food, and other fun giveaways. Empower the Community Weekend 2019

    
 

On August 10, 2019 Capitol Petroleum Group was proud to be a co-sponsor to the annual Empower the Community Weekend in Washington, DC. The event, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, brings together the largest East African community in the Washington DC metro area. The event provides entertainment, panel discussions, empowering information on education, arts, finance, health & wellness, giveaways and much more. It’s focused on providing resources and family centered activities. One of this year's panels included Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota's 5th Congressional District: the first Somali- American member of the US House of Representatives. American Heart Association Golfs for a Cause

 

 

CPG was pleased to sponsor and participate in the annual American Heart Association Golf Tournament for the fifth straight year. The tournament was hosted at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland on April 29, 2019 and was able to raise $10,000! The CPG team performed well and had a great time raising money for such an important cause. The American Heart Association dedicated this year to raising awareness to heart disease in women through their Go Red for Women campaign. A New Start for Thrive DC

Thrive DC is an organization in the Washington DC community that works to prevent and end homelessness. They are a great resource for residents in the community that are experiencing unemployment, housing instability, and food insecurity.  In March, Motiva Enterprises and CPG teamed up to learn more about the impact that Thrive DC has in the area and present a donation to their organization. Real Good People Awards Luncheon

In March, Capitol Petroleum Group joined WGPC to help celebrate those who have committed themselves to bettering their communities at the Real Good People Awards luncheon at Ivy City Smokehouse in Washington, DC.  CPG served as a sponsor for the program and is proud to highlight this great group who “have made it their mission to give back through activism, empowering youth and taking a genuine interest in their neighborhoods”.

 

New Shell Customer Appreciation Day

     

Capitol Petroleum Group and local radio station WPGC partnered up again for a customer appreciation event at 5010 Benning Road, Washington, DC on Saturday, June 2nd!  The first 95 customers received a Shell gift card while discounted gas was promoted over the radio to help show the DC community our appreciation.  Customers also stopped by for treats and giveaways as they learned about Shell’s Fuel Rewards program.   To learn more about Shell’s FRN program, please visit here.
